Motocross rider Josh to be featured on See Hear

Josh Waterman.jpg Coleford Motocross rider Josh Waterman is to be featured on the BBC2 programme for the deaf, See Hear, on November 11.

Josh, 17, recently clinched the British MXY2 and BYMX Championships. He represented England and is an AutoCycle Union academy rider.

Incredibly, Josh is profoundly deaf, changing gears by feel rather than sound.

Josh followed his father's footsteps into the sport at the age of six and he's been among Britain's best in his respective age-groups ever since.

His dad Phil said: "Without his hearing aid Josh wouldn't hear a thing. He has had a cochlear implant which is quite good."

Josh will step up to the senior ranks next season and he should know where he'll be competing within the next couple of months.

"The aim is to do the European 125 class, which will mean competing in seven different countries, and the adult British Championship," said Phil.

"It's all about getting on a good team. Realistically, if he improves his lap times by three seconds he'll be among the very best.

"I think that's achievable because he's working for me at the moment and doesn't get to practise much."
