See Hear!
Those of you who watch the BBC's See Hear programmes may have seen its recent celebration of the 20th anniversary of the UK's first multi-channel cochlear implant.
The first cochlear implant was given to a toddler deafened by meningitis, and the programme featured that 'boy', Michael Batt, who is now a 23-year-old man.
The programme showed how much implants have changed in the last 20 years, and looked at how Michael's mum struggled to raise money and support for an operation previously unavailable in the UK.
See Hear also followed 27-year-old Thea Kyle who had her cochlear implant operation in adulthood, and was there when she heard the sound of her voice for the first time.
The most recent programme looked at the funding crisis facing Britain's Deaflympics team and ask a representative from UK Sport why the organisation withdrew funding for Britain's deaf athletes.

I heard Mike's presentation at a recent Ear Foundation conference - it was great to hear him speak - he's got a good sense of humour!
