Tour de France winner auctions yellow jersey for deaf kids
The NDCS will be holding an auction of a 2008 Tour de France yellow jersey, worn and signed by the winner, Carlos Sastre.
The 10-day-long auction has been sponsored by Wiggle, an online cycle shop, and will start on 15 April on eBay/Charity auction site.
All funds raised will go towards a multi-sports day that NDCS will be running for deaf children and young people in Walsall, West Midlands, on 10 October.
Carlos Sastre, who donated the yellow jersey to NDCS, said: “I am very proud to help the National Deaf Children’s Society to raise awareness of the obstacles that deaf children face at school and in their every day life.
“Every deaf child has the right to be fully included and valued by society. In this sense, NDCS’s services for and campaigns in aid of deaf children help to make their voices heard.”
Simon Kirby, NDCS Corporate Development Manager, comments: “We are pleased to have become a charity partner for the auction of Sastre’s yellow jersey and are grateful to Wiggle for supporting our sports day for deaf children and young people in Walsall.”
“Access to sports activities is extremely important for deaf children. Deafness makes it harder for children to communicate which can be very isolating. Many deaf children and young people also find it difficult to participate in out of school activities because they are not set up to provide good communication.”

My son aged 12 years approx. is deaf by birth and is studying in fifth class here in Rawalpindi , Pakistan. but i am not satisfied from educanal system here specialy for special kids. So please healp me to get admited in best educational institution my son cause he is so telented, specialy in computer etc. I am a business man and social worker as well and willing to open a best deaf and dum schooll in Islamabad with the healp of other best educational institutions.
