Hidden Hearing's spectacle hearing aids
I saw an advert yesterday for Hidden Hearing, a company offering spectacle hearing aids. These combine digital hearing aids built into the sides (arms) of spectacles - meaning people can wear just a single vision and hearing system.
The site offers several frame designs and claims that 'people are unlikely to think you have a hearing loss.'
Another site selling spectacle hearing aids is Spectacle Hearing Systems, which offers 'La Belle' - manufactured in Germany by Bruckhoff hannover. The website claims that the hearing aid is discreetly integrated and beautifully finished. As the position of your glasses on your head is something you are already used to, the hearing system is quickly forgotten.
Have you ever worn, or do you currently wear these? If so, let us know what you think.

Comments
these are bone conduction aids, they are suitable people who can't use conventional hearing aids (middle ear conditions etc...)
Conventional hearing aids are a much better option if you have the choice, as you hear more naturally rather than through the bone. Hidden hearing advertise these as they generate a lot of interest (so hidden hearing get your details then bombard you with junk mail)- they dont really sell many at all.

Yes I would agree, as an independent hearing aid audiologist of around 15 years I've never really considered them, I've only come across maybe 2 or 3 wearers of this type of hearing solution in that time and I've seen LOTS of people.
Seen spectacle aids advertised a lot though...
Sprat - mackerel.

I concur. In general, the staff of this company cannot fit these products and have no idea of their specifications. BC spectacle aids are VERY rarely fitted. personally twice in 15 years.

Due to middle ear problems I have had to wear bone conduction aids for over 30 years. In general they suit me, but there seems to have been no significant development over that time, compared with 'normal' BTE, CinC etc., aids.
It distresses me that so little concern is shown to those of us who have no choice, including the statement by Mr Donnan above that 'in general the staff of this company cannot fit these products...'
My answer to this is, why not? If I were to walk into an audiologists premises I would expect to experience the same expertise as shown to those able to wear 'normal aids, and not fobbed off with poorly trained staff.

I have a brother with brain damage who will not allow anyone to place ordinary aid in the ear. I would like to know if you product would be suitable for a hearing aid set into glasses frame as he wears these all the time
Thanking you in anticipation of a reply

I purchased my bone conduction aids from David Ormerod (Boots) and have found them very good. The biggest problem as I'm haveimg at the moment is getting new frames etc..
As for the staff everytime I see a new audiologist at my local store they all say it is the first time they have come across them.
I have inner ear problems and ear infections and the bone conduction aids are a great help in that respect. I have been wearing them for just over 4 years. When talking to people they are not aware that I'm wearing them.

We need to protect our ears from loud noise. For me it is one of the caused of deafness. Many people first lose their ability to hear before they notice their problems.
