Eric Clapton is the latest celebrity to suffer hearing loss
The DeafBlog’s story about Phil Collins’ hearing loss has continued to spark interest since it was run a couple of years ago. The singer admitted that since becoming aware of a loss of hearing in his right ear, he has changed his attitude to life.
Since then, Eric Clapton has revealed that he’s going deaf due to his own rock concerts. The famous guitarist has revealed that he suffers from mild tinnitus, ringing in the ears, and is convinced his excessively loud performances with Cream back in the 60s are to blame. He explained: "My hearing isn't ruined, but if I stop and listen I've got whistling all the time which I suppose is a mild tinnitus”.
Sports presenter Gabby Logan and Brit winner KT Tunstall are among those who are proudly supporting the RNID. KT, who has a profoundly deaf brother, said: "I'm really pleased to be supporting RNID, and hope more people take care of their hearing and break down the barriers and prejudices that still exist today between hearing and deaf people."
