Sound Advice
Sound Advice is the new service from the Ear Foundation for adults and children with Cochlear Implants.
In collaboration with The Link Centre, Cochlear and Advanced Bionics, the Foundation aims to help users get the most from their implant through advice and assessment.
For adult users of an implant it offers individual tailor-made sessions with its team of professionals that can offer you services that include:
• Making the most of your implant
• Managing family and other relationships
• Listening skills
• Communication skills and strategies
• Managing the work environment
• Troubleshooting with technical issues
• How your Cochlear Implant works
• And many other aspects of your day-to-day life
These one hour sessions are done in relaxed surroundings and cost £60.00.
If you are a parent of a child who has a Cochlear Implant and have questions that you would like to explore, either in a session or a group, its family friendly professionals can work with your child on listening, speech & language and technological issues to learn how to help them at home.
The service for children and parents includes:
• Time to talk to someone about your child's Cochlear Implant
• Someone to explain how to help your child to communicate and listen
• Someone to explain how you can help make your child progress in understanding and talking
• Technical equipment troubleshooting and using the accessories to the full capacity
These can be one hour sessions in relaxed and friendly surroundings and will cost £60.00.
