Life and Deaf Poetry

Life and Deaf is a collection of poetry by deaf children in the Greenwich area which features students writing about deaf identity.

The students who helped to put the book together are from Thomas Tallis School in Greenwich, who worked with speech and language therapists Jane Thomas and Katie Martin to learn about poetry, brainstorm their ideas and produce and edit their poems.

The students, who are between the ages of 11 to 19 and are all moderately to profoundly deaf, write about the challenges and frustrations of being deaf. The project culminated in the students giving two performances at the Stephen Lawrence Gallery at Greenwich University, which was a huge success, in fact, such a success that their work has been featured in the Deaf Film and Art Festival as well as on BBC2's programme See Hear.

You can order a copy of the poetry book with DVD for £5 plus p&p.
