Pledge for Deaf Friendly Schools
The latest person to sign up and support The National Deaf Children’s Society’s (NDCS) Deaf Friendly Schools Pledge is MP Jim Dobbin. He says that deaf children need to be part of the whole school community and on an equal footing with their hearing friends.
The Deaf Friendly Schools Pledge pack offers invaluable advice to help everyone at a school be more aware of the needs of deaf children.
However keen mainstream schools may be to support a deaf child, they often don’t have the expertise and knowledge required to do this. NDCS want to help Local Education Authorities help deaf children to be successful at school and given them the resources needed.
School wanting to make the pledge can contact Angela Deckett on email: deaffriendlypledge@ndcs.org.uk or download the Deaf Friendly Schools Pledge Pack from the NDCS website.
