Baha request for tsunami survivor
Somaratne Wijesinghe, a Sri Lankan man from Enfield, is appealing for donations to fund a Baha (bone conduction hearing implant) for two-year-old Tharindi Supunsara who was born with no ears following the south-east Asian tsunami of 2004.
Baby Tharindi comes from Matatra, in Sri Lanka, where her pregnant mother was washed away by the tsunami and only narrowly managed to survive on Boxing Day of 2004. However, due to resulting complications with the pregnancy, Tharindi was born without ears the following June, and has severely impaired hearing.
Local doctors have said that Tharindi could benefit from a Baha but, since Tharindi's parents are unable to meet this cost, they are desperately seeking contributions from well wishers.
If you would like to make a donation, please call Somaratne Wijesinghe on 020 8440 3944.
