100th Baha in Wrexham
Iris Ganderton, a housewife from Anglesey, won herself a place in the history books when she recently became the 100th person to benefit from a bone conduction hearing implant at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital in North Wales.
60-year-old Iris was deafened by measles as a baby. Throughout her childhood, she tried wearing hearing aids, but they caused frequent infections and after a particularly bad infection went to her chest, Iris had to take her hearing aids out for good.
Being unable to hear made her miserable and, stuck at home all day, Iris began to get very depressed. Following her Baha surgery last Autumn, Iris' external sound processor was switched on on 1st December 2006 and, since then, she has not looked back and says it's "absolutely brilliant".

I was just diagnosed as a perfect candidate for the BAHA implant. I have a deaf ear and 39% hearing in my other ear. What is the most powerful BAHA processor for profound deafness? How did the BAHA change your life?
Thank you,
Yvette
