The Ear Foundation has produced a four page leaflet about cochlear implants, giving up to date information on the technology, outcomes and referral / implant process.

As well as peer reviewed references and useful website addresses, the document 'Cochlear Implants: 2007' also gives a number of interesting facts. For example, in 2006, 290 adults and 375 children were implanted in the UK and about 350 children per year are born deaf enough to be considered for an implant.
