New website for UK deaf community
www.deafok.com is an excellent new news and community site for the deaf. The site was created by Oliver Westbury, who, being deaf himself, has personal experience of the isolation and loneliness felt by many deaf people and their families.
Oliver set up Deafok.com to alleviate this loneliness and "to cheer deaf people up and help them to enjoy themselves, maybe to get involved in something if they want".
The site already provides information on deaf social events and sporting events as well as football leagues, World News, Entertainment, Photographs, Education and Youth Exchange. There are also message boards for Points of View, Vacancies, Pen Pals, Sales and Dating.
Because Oliver went to University and enjoyed the social life as much as the academic learning, Deafok.com also includes articles about higher education and how to achieve this, how to meet other deaf people at University, and
lists several schools of interest.
If you would like to contact Oliver, please email ok@deafok.com

Hi, I'm Jess
A 22yr old girl from UK.
I've been travelling for the last three years around Asia and Australia. I'm planning to go to India for 6 months this November December. I'm currently studying BSL and would love to travel with a D/deaf person or any one studying BSL. I really want to improve my skills and feel like I could offer an opportunity to someone who doesn't feel confidaent travelling alone.
If you want to chat or ask me anything, email me anytime: jessrees@hotmail.com
Cheers.
