UK deaf man to be first to pole
26-year-old Oliver Westbury from Portsmouth is launching an expedition to become the first deaf person to reach the North Pole on foot.
But first Oliver aims to raise £27,000, half of which will go towards financing the trip, with the remainder being donated to the National Deaf Children's Society.
Diagnosed with profound hearing loss when he was 18 months old, Oliver wants to raise money for deaf children by trekking 70 miles while towing a 40kg sleigh of equipment and supplies in temperatures as low as minus 35 degrees centigrade.
