Christmas cheers for deaf toddler

Two-year-old Oliver from Surrey is looking forward to Christmas with bilateral cochlear implants, having been deafened by meningitis on Christmas day last year.

With his deafness diagnosed at the end of January, Oliver's family went to Great Ormond Street Hospital in March and Oliver was fitted with the first of his cochlear implants in May. The second device was implanted on October 19 and switched on on November 14, the day before Oliver's second birthday.
