Educating children with APD

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) is a neurological condition that affects hearing. Although it was identified in the US in the 1960s, APD has only been recognised in the UK in the last few years. Sufferers cannot understand the sounds they hear because the brain is unable to interpret them properly.

This means that children with APD can have difficulty understanding spoken messages, expressing themselves clearly, reading, remembering instructions or staying focused.
