A family of four in Rochester, New York, all received cochlear implants in the same week, according to Hearing Loss Magazine. Back in 2004, parents Douglas and Mary Karol Matchell and their children, Kara, 9, and Scott, 11, were implanted at Strong Memorial Hospital in the USA.

Recently Mary Karol set up a cochlear implant support group for Deaf implantees, and all four of them have spoken about their lives a year after their operations.
