Why is a deaf musician surprising?

Grammy-winning percussionist Evelyn Glennie argues that overcoming the common assumption that the hearing-impaired can't become professional musicians actually constitutes more of a challenge than her own personal goal of becoming a top musician.

Glennie has recently been visiting Japan to promote 'Touch the Sound', a documentary film about her and the nature of sound.
