Hearing tests now in place for all babies

All babies born in the UK from today will be tested for deafness and hearing problems soon after birth.

More than 1,600 babies are expected to be screened each day as part of the NHS newborn hearing screening programme. The scheme is now in place at 122 hospitals and sites accross the country following a gradual rollout over the past few years.
