Singing and signing
There is a recent trend which claims that baby signing is good for communication and reducing tantrums. The story stems from a 'Sing and Sign' class held at Mulberry House in Edinburgh where mothers take their babies to do exactly that! They are taught the basics of sign language, adapted for infants, learning words such as mummy, daddy and different animal names. Apparently babies in America have been doing this for about 20 years, but it became more popular thanks to the hit film 'Meet the Fockers' which features a signing child. There was a whole article about this story in the Sunday Times, go to this link to read more
