Parents need to listen to deaf children
The world's leading authority on childhood hearing impairment and auditory-verbal therapy, Warren Estabrooks, was in Delhi recently to speak to parents of cochlear implantee children and to encourage them to "listen to their children".
Warren, the director of the Learning to Listen Foundation in Canada, said: "Children who receive a cochlear implant young enough, and receive the appropriate auditory training, should be able to acquire age-appropriate language skills and particpate fully in mainstream school and community".
