By Carolyn, mum to bi-lateral implant user Lily, aged 9
Today is 3 months since Lily was switched on - we went for a re-map appointment at Manchester last week and had Lily's second implant fine tuned. It has made a huge difference to her putting the coil back on when it falls off. I have gone from telling her ten times a day to put it back on to once every few days.
It's such a wonderful feeling to spot the coil on her newly implanted side fall off - get ready to nag - but then watch her choose to put it straight back on again.
If I had the time and energy I would mount a campaign to get children that are suitable for a second implant operated on tomorrow. It makes such perfect sense. We are going to meet two Mums on Sunday who are considering a second implant for their children - so I suppose that instead of feeling guilty about not mounting a campaign I have to think that at least I am doing something to help these other children. And I hope that detailing her progress in this DeafBlog will help too!
Sometimes I worry that Lily is just saying what she thinks I want to hear when I ask her how she likes her new implant - but I can tell she is telling the truth now when she says that she can hear better and she does like it.
We are still working on the new implant alone every night, but we are not having periods where Lily is trying to live life with just her new implant as she has to practice listening with two ears in normal life.

This child's things come off many times, it is wrong to tell the child to put it on... can you see that the child have rejected cochlear implants??
if the child want to keep cochlear implants, the thing wont get off many times.
Please can you see that it is damaging your child?
