Cochlear implant mum copes with bringing up baby

The latest issue of Mother & Baby magazine (1st January cover date) tells the moving story of 19 year old Gemma Graham who is profoundly deaf and how she is coping with bringing up her 16 month old son, Alfie with her partner Kevin. Gemma has had a cochlear implant since she was four years old, but faces all sorts of dilemmas in recognising Alfie's cry - is he hungry, wet, tired or in pain?
